This sounds like a great book. I love the way the universe works in patterns. Everything can be seen as a pattern when viewed in the correct light.

I have had this same conversation with my friend, but though we started with the same question (can you have capitalism without consumerism) we have been led to a different followup answer/question:

At the age of 47 we know that having stuff does not lead to "happiness"; thus where can we go next that keeps our country/econcomy moving forward, if it is not based on consumerism?

We have a large amount of college, educated recent graduates that are not being utilized in the current economy; can we use their unused energy to bring the country/econcomy to a new direction that combines "prosperity" and internal fulfillment without the need for more unnecessary stuff??

Very interesting--we talked about how hard it is to do anything under our system of laws. Anything new can be stopped for the price of a postage stamp--and old systems of renewable energy, like dams, are unpopular and at risk. Even modifications with the grid come under attack. At some point politicians need to set some priorities and stick with themor we will become a third world nation.

I'd love to visit Poland someday. I'm actually adding this on my bucket list. Number 24 - Visit Poland. How I envy you. I have always been fascinated by Polish traditions and culture, not to mention the friendly people and breath-taking places. And the food!!! I've always wondered how they taste like - what's the pink food? How does it taste? sigh**
