Rose is four months old today, and we were greeted this morning with a shiny new tooth poking through Rose’s gums. Boy is it ever sharp!
Rose is:
38% Basque
17% English
9% Danish
9% Scot
6% Irish
6% German
6% Dutch
6% Swedish
2% French
1% Spanish
100% American!
Rose’s appointment today went very well. She now weighs 13 pounds, 5 ounces, she is 25.25 inches tall, and her head measures 16.25 inches in circumference. She is growing as she should, and she is meeting all of her developmental milestones (holding her head up, rolling over, social smiling, mimicking sounds, bearing weight on her legs). I learned that her teething symptoms will indeed ebb and flow and that it may be months before we actually see a tooth. Rose seems to be coping with today’s vaccine too - she is a little tired, but she is interacting and enjoying her Dr. Seuss books.
Introducing the newest member of our family! Maya was born to my dear, life-long friend, Ann, on June 26. I cannot wait to hug them both!!!!
Also, the age difference between Maya and Rose is almost exactly the same as it is for Ann and me - I hope this means they will be good friends.
Question (in March): What am I supposed to do with all these bibs?
Answer (in July): Use six or so a day to catch the waterfall of drool!
We captured this funny image of Rose yesterday, but neither of us can think of a clever caption for it…. Help?!
Rose slept through the night! She went down for the night at 11pm, and she woke up at 6:30am. Ahhhhh, sweet sleep.
Rose now rolls over to her tummy to sleep. It seems that this is the best position for keeping her thumb handy. She has yet to roll from her tummy to her back though, so she wants immediate assistance when she wakes up and finds herself face-down. Last night and this morning, Rose began pushing herself up with her arms and looking around. It is very cute, and I am actively trying to capture a photo.
Rose took the bottle for Blas last night with minimal resistance!
We saved the UberBaby web site to a disk for posterity and streamlined what is posted on the internet. In the Photo Gallery, some of the older galleries (Ultrasound and Nursery) were deleted and many of the photos within those that remain were removed (this was really hard for me - I love every photo of my baby!) Now though, there is room for new photos of all that there is to come! The most current photos of Rose are in the galleries titled “Rose 3-6 Months” and “Watching Rose Grow”.
On a side note, thank you so much to those who leave comments on the site. It is reassuring to me to know that I’m not talking just to myself out in cyberspace, and I think Rose will enjoy reading the comments when she is older.
Rose is interacting with her toys much more now. She began to giggle when I set her down for her photo with the pig this morning. Then she toppled onto him, pushed him around, leaned away, and seemed to do it more the more I fussed for the “perfect” photo. We both ended up laughing.
We went out for tea this afternoon with Nadine. We sat outside under the trees and enjoyed the weather and the company. It was a blissful way to spend the afternoon.
