{"id":238,"date":"2010-01-18T15:02:12","date_gmt":"2010-01-18T15:02:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/buber.net\/Basque\/?p=238"},"modified":"2010-01-18T15:02:12","modified_gmt":"2010-01-18T15:02:12","slug":"hidden-in-plain-sight-the-basques","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buber.net\/Basque\/2010\/01\/18\/hidden-in-plain-sight-the-basques\/","title":{"rendered":"Hidden in Plain Sight: the Basques"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/buber.net\/Basque\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/basque-exhibit-men.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-239 alignleft\" style=\"border: 1px solid black; margin: 5px;\" title=\"basque-exhibit-men\" src=\"https:\/\/buber.net\/Basque\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/basque-exhibit-men.jpg\" alt=\"basque-exhibit-men\" width=\"290\" height=\"65\" \/><\/a>As many of you might already know, the Boise <a href=\"http:\/\/www.basquemuseum.com\/\">Basque Museum and Cultural Center<\/a>, with help from the Basque Government, has been working on a project to highlight the Basques&#8217; contributions to the history and settlement of the United States.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve received a number of recent messages updating me on the status of the project, which is that the exhibit is now on display at the Boise Basque Museum and will soon move to the Ellis Island National Monument Museum.<\/p>\n<p>Entitled &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.basqueexhibit.com\/\">Hidden in Plain Sight: the Basques<\/a>&#8220;, the exhibit will be at Ellis Island from February to May.\u00a0 It will return to Boise for Jaialdi and will become a feature exhibit at the Basque Museum in Boise.\u00a0 In the words of the website, the exhibit <em>explores the language, customs, traditions and values of the Basque people as well as the allure that America held for them.
