He passed away on March 5. <a href=\"https:\/\/buber.net\/Basque\/2023\/10\/01\/basque-fact-of-the-week-my-uncle-tio-joe\/\">Tio Joe lived a long and good life<\/a>. He was the catalyst for my dad to come to the United States. He was always full of stories and had a memory that was as sharp as ever &#8211; he could remember numbers from decades earlier. We got to see him the last time we went to the Basque Country in 2023. Though he was weak and tired, he still had stories to tell. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Goian bego, Tio Joe.
