I haven&#8217;t spent a lot of time with it yet, but if you are looking for some classic Basque rock, tune in here.<a href=\"https:\/\/buber.net\/Basque\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/baskinbox_small.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright alignnone size-medium wp-image-82\" style=\"border: 1px solid black; margin: 5px; float: right;\" title=\"baskinbox_small\" src=\"https:\/\/buber.net\/Basque\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/baskinbox_small.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>OK, this one I&#8217;m not sure what to make of&#8230; the concept looks intriguing, but I don&#8217;t think I understand it well enough.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.baskinbox.com\/\">Baskinbox<\/a> seems to be a Basque gift box, with information about food, hotels, recreation, etc.\u00a0 But, I&#8217;m not quite sure what is actually included in the box.\u00a0 Can anyone help me out?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/buber.net\/Basque\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/aimee-eiguren.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft alignnone size-medium wp-image-83\" style=\"border: 1px solid black; margin: 5px; float: left;\" title=\"aimee-eiguren\" src=\"https:\/\/buber.net\/Basque\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/aimee-eiguren.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" \/><\/a>Aimee Eiguren, a very distant cousin of mine on my mom&#8217;s side, has a blog of her own, <a href=\"http:\/\/glutenfreebowlofsoul.blogspot.com\/\">Bowl of Soul<\/a>.\u00a0 In her most recent post, she describes her first trip to Euskadi to visit the homes of her ancestors and shares a great recipe for Basque Omelette.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/buber.net\/Basque\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/basque-studies-consortium.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright alignnone size-medium wp-image-84\" style=\"border: 1px solid black; margin: 5px; float: right;\" title=\"basque-studies-consortium\" src=\"https:\/\/buber.net\/Basque\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/basque-studies-consortium-300x97.jpg\" alt=\"\" height=\"90\" \/><\/a>NABO, the North American Basque Organization, tries to help the various Basque clubs in efforts that are too big for any individual club.\u00a0 This includes organizing summer camps for kids, hosting the national Mus championship, and much more.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/nabasque.org\/Pages\/Consortium.htm\">On this page<\/a>, they describe the ongoing effort to create a Basque Studies Consortium, the goal of which is to create a clearing house, of sorts, for Basque Studies, a place people can go and see what the most recent research in areas related to the Basques has uncovered.<\/p>\n<p>The Nevada State Museum recently installed a <a href=\"http:\/\/aroundcarson.com\/2009\/04\/10\/1902_basque_sheepherders_wagon\">1902 Sheepherders Wagon<\/a>, built for the Campbell Ranch.\u00a0 According to the site, the first-ever sheepherders wagon was built by James Candlish of Wyoming in 1884, and it soon was adopted by sheepherders all over the American West.<\/p>\n<p>Continuing the historical theme, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.idahostatesman.com\/history\/story\/685107.html\">this article<\/a> in the Idaho Statesman describes the early history of the Basques in Boise, Idaho.\u00a0 It focuses on their involvement in the restaurant and hotel businesses.\u00a0 In particular, they quote an 1893 Stateman article that reported that &#8220;Yturraspe &amp; Uberuaga will on Monday, January 1st, take charge of the City Restaurant and lodging house, which they have purchased from Russ Luark.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/buber.net\/Basque\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/bordado-vasco.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright alignnone size-medium wp-image-85\" style=\"border: 1px solid black; margin: 5px; float: right;\" title=\"bordado-vasco\" src=\"https:\/\/buber.net\/Basque\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/bordado-vasco-270x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/viversan.com\/index.html#Inicio\">This site<\/a>, which gives a number of images on bordering of different styles, also has <a href=\"http:\/\/viversan.com\/dibujo\/vasco.htm\">a page dedicated to Basque bordering<\/a>.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not sure how useful these images or these pages would be for one doing this kind of work, but maybe in the least these patterns will inspire.<\/p>\n<p>An interesting little diversion, using a pattern you can download for free from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ii.uib.no\/~arntzen\/kalender\/\">this site,<\/a> you can create a simple three-dimensional dodecahedron calendar in a number of languages, including Euskara.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/buber.net\/Basque\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/horreo-ertzilla.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft alignnone size-medium wp-image-86\" style=\"border: 1px solid black; margin: 5px; float: left;\" title=\"horreo-ertzilla\" src=\"https:\/\/buber.net\/Basque\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/horreo-ertzilla-300x208.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" \/><\/a>The Taller de Artesania Lorratz has a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.euskalnet.net\/lorratz\/imagenes.htm\">great gallery of images<\/a>, including paintings, drawings and mosaics.\u00a0 The drawings, in particular, are of Basque buildings, with baserriak, churches, castles, and even a windmill.\u00a0 The images are accompanied by the name and location of the building.\u00a0 There are also some children&#8217;s arts and crafts images.<\/p>\n<p>And, finally, for this update at least, NABO recently welcomed a new member to its fold.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.euskaldunakquebec.com\/\">Euskaldunak: Association des Basques du Quebec<\/a> is the latest club to both become part of NABO and put a presence on the web.\u00a0 The page, in both French and Euskara, seems to be still a work in progress, but there are photos and announcements regarding the group&#8217;s recent events.\u00a0 Zorionak!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been meaning to share this set of links for a while and just thought I&#8217;d &#8220;dump&#8221;
