BASKARAN The Origin of this surname is in XEMEIN (Markina), there is a
farm with this name, and a Mill, and an Horreo (I dont know the
translation), all in the quarter of Meabe, J.Kerexeta says in his books
that there is another farms with this name in Elgoibar and Soraluze in
Gipuzkoa, but as you say you come from Markina it is easy to know that your
family comes from Xemein-Meabe
The meaning is not clear: of corse one of the meanings can be the one that
you say, but can be Basoko-aran: valey in the forest, the names of
baserriak use to show us How was the place in what the house was built, or
who was the owner.
Proves of Nobility: Eibar (1620,1758), Bilbao (1763,1778,1827).
Coat of arms: there are Two (I will copy from the original in spanish)
1st: En azur dos aspas grandes de oro puestas en faja
2nd: En plata un roble de sinople terrasado de lo mismo
