Echevarrieta (echavarrieta, Etxebarrieta)
ECHEVARRIETA (ECHAVARRIETA, ETXEBARRIETA)
House originating in Izpazter and Errigoitia, Vizcaya.
This name is derrived from Echevarri which means "new
house." and an additional suffix "ta" which in this case
could be either used to denote the place or location or to
denote a plural. (The place of the new house or perhaps a
small group of new houses.)
The coat of arms is cut in half vertically. On the left side
is a field of green on which there rests a silver castle. On
the other side is a green pine tree with a black wolf
leaning upon it with it's forearms. The field of that panel
is gold.
