GARCERAN
Among the Basque Heraldic Books available, there was no
mention of the Surname GARCERA. The closest match was that
of GARCERAN. There is no origins mentioned for this surname,
however. Perhaps it originated elsewhere and came into the
Basque Country or perhaps little is known about it.
The meaning is also quite vague although some authors seem
to believe it may have something to do with "garcea"
(meaning oso or bear) and perhaps, in this case, the suffix
"aran" or "eran" denoting the place or location.
The coat of arms is a purple castle on a field of silver.
