GARRIZ
This surname has origins in Garroze or Garriz, in Aborea, Mixa and in
the land of Bascos (en Benabarra), and in Espinosa de los Monteros
(Burgos).
This name is a variation of ARRIZ or ARIZ (which come from the root word
ARRI, AR rock and the suffix IZ meaning abundance of).
The coat of arms is divided into four quarters. The top left and bottom
right cuadrants have a wolf standing right in front of an oak tree. The
top right and bottom left caudrants have four red vertical stripes on a
field of white (this is called the "Stripes of Aragon" or Barras de
Aragon). These last two quarters are bordered by the "Chains of Nabarra"
