Interpretation
Goia means the high (goi=high,
a=article).
History and Locality
In Bizkaia, there are caserios Goia only in Orozko and in Arrazola (not near the area). In
Gipuzkoa, there are various, in Usurbil, Zerain, and Segura. Curiously, the grandfather of the painter Goya was
born in Zerain.
Coat of Arms
There are various and it is not indicated from where each one originates. I have chosen this one: En
oro, un aguila de sable con las alas desplegadas, bordure de gules con ocho bezantes de plata.
