HARYMBAT Surname of a benedictine from Belloc (Lapurdi), than in 1950 was
the author of a method to learn basque.
The meaning is very difficult to know. in basque ARIMA: means gost, and
ARIN: means quick. but I don't think that these are correct meanings for
this surname.
After write this I have look it up in a book about basque surname wrote by
an Iparraldean and this surname is only mentioned, without comments.
HARYMBAT (MORE ABOUT)
Meaning: HARYN: means Sand, and BAT: riverside or valey. So the meaning
would be "Sandy valley" but in the sense of riverside. As basque surnames
are names of farms the complete meaning is "the house on the sandy
riverside"
Bat means one in basque, but the author thinks that in this case is not the
basque bat, but the Gascoine or Aquitain bat that means riverside or valey.
