Inurrutegi
Interpretation
It is not known exactly what Inurrutegi means,
but it could come from Inuuri (ant) and
Tegi (place). It could also be place of brezo
or even place with rush. The most accepted translation, proposed
by Mitxelena, is place of yezgos
(yezgo is a plant with the technical name ``Sambucus ebulus'').
History and Locality
There isn't a caserio Inurrutegi in Bizkaia. There is an Inurria en Zenarruza-Bolivar. There is a
caserio Inurrutegi in Zerain. Zerain is near Mutiloa and Segura, in the south of Gipuzkoa.
Coat of Arms
In the village of Zerain: Escudo de oro con un arbol de sinople, sumado de un aguila posada, a cada
lado del tronco dos panelas de gules. Bordura de ese color con ocho sotueres de gules.
