LOZOYA I don't know if is a Basque surname, There is a village, and a
River, and a swamp in the north of the Province of Madrid, the water of
Lozoya is famous....
In any case sounds like basque, and probably the word has a Basque origin,
LOI means swamp in basque and the meaning can be "mouth of the swamp". All
the basque surnames with the root LOI, LOIZ, has the sense of swampy place.
In the basque Country there are families with this name in Lodosa
(Navarre), it is extrange but the meaning oz Lozoya is very simmilar to the
spanish meaning of Lodosa
