OBIETA
This surname originates in the province of Vizcaya.
The meaning of the name is derrived from the root "obi" (meaning a hole,
like a cave, cavity, well or crater) combined with the suffix "o" to
denote locality and "eta" which means plural. So the original home was
probably near an area which had several "holes" of the types listed
above.
The coat of arms is a green tree with red fruit upon a field of gold.
