URUETA
Although I can see the similarity in the name Ureta and the Surname
Urueta it is difficult to judge whether they are actually linked. You
suggested in your request that your wife seem confident that URUETA
means "Distant Water" if somehow her ancestors derived their surname
from Ureta that could possibly be so, but the Basque Surname URUETA is
actually a variation of the name ORUETA which comes from Oņate.
Orueta is derrived from Orue, which has various meanings. It can mean
avena (oats), helecho (moss) or enebro (juniper). This in combination
with the suffix -eta (place or field) gives us a fairly clear picture
of where the original family made their home.
The coat is a field of gold on which a piece of black coal burns with
flames of red.
