YRIGOYEN
This was sent to me by Julie at paulkitt@znet.com.
My maiden name is Yrigoyen -- my grandfather Yrigoyen on my
father's side came from the Pyrenees to Cuba and worked in the
sugar factories and then came on to the USA where he worked
for the railroad and then worked as a sheepherder for my great
grandfather,Andrew Juaregui (sp), who's father had a Spanish
land grant in Newhall California. He married my grandmother,
Annie Juaregui, the oldest of Andrew Jauregui's 13 children.
They owned ranches and farmed sugar beets, as well as other
crops in Oxnard, Calabasas (where my father was born)and Canoga
Park, California.
My father leased horses and equipment to the movie studios in
the 1930's and subsequently owned Happy Valley Stable in
Hollywood, California where he supplied horses and equipment and
did stunt work for the "stars". He also owned the original
Hi Ho Silver of Lone Ranger fame.
Some of my cousins (children of one of my father's brothers and
sisters) are still involved in the entertainment business.
My grandfather passed on in the 1960's at the age of 92,
my grandmother passed on in 1990 at the age of 97;unfortunately,
my father passed on in 1957 at the age of 50.
Just some info on Basque people who came to California in the
