MALLEA
Surname from the neighborhood of San Pedro en Mallabia. Also two
branches in Eibar of the descendents of "Mallea la Mayor." The name has
also been found in Durango, Ermua and Bilbao and outside of Spain in
Argentina.
It is a variation of the surname MALLA, in which the last "a" changed to
an "e" (becoming Malle or Mallea) in the dialect of Vizcaya. Malla is a
field or pasture - grazing land.
No description of the coat of arms was found during the search.
