New tattoo from Inaki

Inaki of Durango Tatu has sent a number of photos of his work before, which can be seen in the Tattoo Gallery. He sends what may be his most ambitious tattoo yet in terms of incorporating Basque symbols. Also, maybe the most radical in terms of placement on the body! 🙂

  1. I fail to see a Basque symbol in the tattoo. The ancient Basque cultural symbol ‘lauburu’ is just that four heads. Somewhat akin in shape to the swastika – or four commas arrayed in a circle with tails meeting at center point.

  2. Well, the rosettas that form the intermediate layer are traditional symbols too, found on ancient tombstones. And there is the axe and oak leaf in the top part. Inaki would have to say more about any other symbolism.
